Stage version by Andriy May
“Maidan diaries” is a documentary play in creation of which has participated the members of the movement “Ukrainian New drama”
Interviews were collected previous winter, in the time of Maidan events.
The play is full of live voices of witnesses, members of protest, who don’t know yet what will happen tomorrow. We will find out with them about beating of students, assault of Maidan, events on Instytuts’ka and Hrushevskogo streets. We will change with heroes, turn from peaceful citizens into radical rebels. Will be surprised with actions of authorities again. Will laugh together with heroes because we won’t know what will be (was) tomorrow.
Now we now all that, but have almost forgotten what all started with. Because it seems that years have passed from that time. But it must not be forgotten. The aim of the performance is to remind ourselves about us that winter, attempt to figure out what we are, what our motivations are, to think about future. Along with cossacks, volunteers, angry mothers, medical workers, students and artists – real heroes of this play.
